15 Questions To Ask Your Potential Wedding Venue

Are you engaged and looking for the perfect venue to host your wedding at? WE have compiled a list of the 15 questions you should consider asking each venue before booking.

  1. Is your ideal date available?

Do you have a specific date in mind? Do you want a Saturday in May? Finding out the venues availability will decide if you move any further in the interview process.

2. What is the minimum or maximum capacity?

Whether you are planning an intimate elopement or a big day hosting 200+ guests, venue capacity is vital.

3. What is the venue rental fee?

Venue Rental fees from differ depending on the day of the week or time of the year. In addition you will want to know what service charges, taxes or gratuity may be added to your final bill.

4. How many hours are included in the venue rental?

What time can you and your bridal party arrive, when can your vendors arrive, what time can the guests arrive. When is last call at the bar, when is the last song played, when does the entire party need to be off property, when do vendors need to be off property.

5. What day and time can you have a ceremony rehearsal?

It is imperative to have a ceremony rehearsal. What day and time the venue will allow you to have access can be very important to the planning of your pre wedding events. 

6. Do you require Special Event Insurance?

Wedding day insurance is common with many venues. Finding out your venues requirements will help you decide what type of insurance you will need for the day of your wedding.

7. Do you require a Wedding Planner or Coordinator?

Does the venue have an onsite coordinator included? If so, what does that role entail? If not, does the venue require you to hire a wedding planner or coordinator?

8. Where does my wedding party get ready?

Does the venue have on-site day-of accommodations for the wedding party to get ready. Are there separate bride and grooms suites? If so, what time can you arrive? How many guests are allowed in the getting ready quarters?  

9. What are your catering and alcohol policies?

Are catering services included? Can you bring in your own outside catering? Will you have access to their kitchen areas? Can you select your own bartender and bar menu or does the venue have an in-house bartending service?

10. What is required to book my wedding date?

What are the required contracts and down payment for securing your wedding date? Is there a grace period where the deposit is refundable?

11. What is the payment schedule for my Venue Rental Fee?

Find out what the payment schedule is so that you can build a financial plan around it.

12. Is there a Required Vendor list?

Preferred vendors often know the venue in a way others don’t. The venue typically only selects those vendors that are seasoned and have proven themselves to be reliable and professional.  Often time a venue will require specific vendors like the DJ or bartender. It is important to find out these details before starting your vendor search. 

13. Do you require a damage deposit and when is that due?

A damage deposit is typically in addition to your venue’s rental fee. 

14. What is your refund policy?

Do you have two weeks to change your mind after paying the deposit? Find out when what their refund policy is in event of cancelation or postponement. 

15. What is your clean up policy?

Is professional cleaning covered or will you be paying for this separately?
